It wasn´t easy for Dorothy Greenbaum to go back to college to take the courses she had never imagined she´d need. It wasn´t easy to compete in the cutthroat world of medical school with students who had so much more freedom to study than she did. It wasn´t easy to see her husband wilting under household tasks he had never done before, and watch her little girl grow sad at not seeing her very much anymore. It wasn´t easy to look at the eviction notice from the landlord when her husband lost his job and the money ran out. It wasn´t easy to face the grim truths of life and death in a great hospital and discover there were times there was nothing she could do. No one had ever told Dorothy it would be easy to become a doctor. But still she had to find out how hard it could be - and how strong she and her marriage had to be to make it happen.
